This is Mary (a.k.a. the pastor's wife)... she caught this monster fish at Uvas Reservoir. Of course, I'm just teasing her with this picture. She's actually a very good fishergirl, as you can see from the other pictures on this page.
Mary taught me the joys of 'catch and release' fishing. My dad really enjoyed fishing but he would keep the fish he caught and clean them and eat them. Well, I don't eat fish and so I figured fishing wasn't for me. Then one day at one of our church beach baptism days at Seacliff beach, Mary and others from the church were fishing off of the pier. They were throwing the fish back in the water after they caught them. Mary let me use one of her poles that day, and as it happened the fish were really biting that day... and I've been hooked ever since.
I only wish my Dad were still alive so we could go fishing together.
This picture was taken at San Luis Reservoir in September of 2006.
It was one of those days! A good one for Mary and a lousy one for me! I think I caught one little itty bitty fish that day. Mary was catching good sized bass left and right. The girl has skills! Anyways, when she caught these 2 good sized bass on the same line I said; "now you're just showing off!!"
She took pity on me. Since I had the camera I would take a picture of her and her catch everytime she caught one. Well, later she admitted she felt sorry for me, because I wasn't having any luck at all, and she had thrown a few back without having me take a picture so I wouldn't know about them. Hmmmm, somehow that didn't make me feel any better.
Like I said, it was one of those days!!!
