From forefront to back: Jackie (my wife), A group of us from church went fishing at Uvas Reservoir on July 28, 2006.
Just look at the scenery! That's what I love about fishing. It's so relaxing. Even if the fish aren't biting you're outdoors getting some fresh air and enjoying the scenery.
Like they say... The worst day of fishing is still better than the best day at work!!!
Angel Castro, Miguel and me.
This is Angel. He's a serious fisherman. He's like my dad, he likes to eat what he catches.
Angel is one of our church elders. Him and his wife, Gloria, head up the "La Casa Ministry" at our church, Sunrise Christian Church. This ministry raises money to build homes for the poor in Mexico. Once or twice a year they, along with others from our church, as well as other churches in the area, take a trip to Mexico to actually build these homes, and to spread the gospel in Mexico.
The bible tells us that we are to be "fishers of men"... but as you can see here, Angel is a pretty good fisher of fish too!
Here's Mary with her orange fishing pole that she liked so much. I say liked (past tense) because it got lost. So, Jackie and I gave her another orange pole as a gift one day. She was happy.
Mary sings with me for the Sunrise Christian Church Worship Team. Not only is she a very good fishergirl, she can sing too!
Ahhh, this is the good life.
When I want to unwind and relax this is what I do. I go fishing by myself a lot because there are several fishing spots minutes away from where I live. When I'm itchin' to be fishin' I just throw my poles in the truck and in ten minutes my baited hook will be in water.
I have a little tri-pod I use for my camera. I have it ready in case I catch a good sized fish. I just set the timer and pose with my fish, then back in the water it goes.
If you're a fish, you want to get caught be someone like me (if at all). All my fish go safely back into the water. However, in the interest of full disclosure, I am responsible for many a worm having bit the dust.
"See son, this is how it's done!"
Here is Mary and her son Miguel. He likes to fish too, sometimes that is. He's got a lot of other interests too, like playing video games, he plays on a basketball team, riding his bike and skateboard... but every now and then He goes fishing with his Mom. He's a good kid!
So, as you can see from the pictures on this page, fishing is a good way to spend time with friends and enjoy the outdoors. It's just fun!
